Kalàscima is one of Italy's hottest bands, from Salento (Puglia Region, South East of Italy). In the last 3 years Kalàscima has played Montreal (Canada), Viljandi Folk Festival (Estonia), Fira Mediterrane de Manrisa (Spain), SXSW (USA), Babel Med Music (France), Roskilde festival (Denmark), Colours of Ostrava (Czech Rep) Australasian World Music Expo (Australia), Sziget Sound Festival (Hungary), Medimex (Italy) and toured in Australia, Ecuador, Israel, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Belgium, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, South Korea and USA. Kalàscima meshes the ancient traditional ritual dance music of Taranta with electronic music and the result is explosive, a sort of trance-folk music.
