Gatyamadzag – (in English: string for fastening drawers – drawers are old style long leg pants that were worn by peasants)
The band was formed in 2010 from the then very young pupils of the Art School in the small town of Tordas near Budapest. Their teacher is a Junior Prima Award winner folk musician, Márton Bence Kovács. The Band won its first folk music award already in the year of their formation and from then on year by year they have won different awards of different folk music competitions. Their biggest success so far was to get in the semi final of the biggest folk music talent television competition in 2016, where they even won the Special Award for Folk Music Groups of the House of Traditions. They are invited to festivals and barn dances all over the country, but they just simply enjoy each-other’s company in their free time as well. When they don’t play music they are likely to dance as they all are trained folk dancers, too. Their repertoire consists mainly of Transilvanian music, but they can also play music of present day Hungarian regions.
