Youngster’s Mandolin Orchestra

This spring, mandolin teachers Jaanus Põlder (Kiviõli School Of Arts) and Ilmar Kald (Tapa Music and Art School) gathered together an orchestra of young mandolin players from all around Estonia, from Hiiumaa to Jõhvi and from Tallinn to Võru. What connects us is our love for mandolins! The orchestra brings together all Estonian best mandolin players, starting with Villu Talsi (J.Põlder’s pupil) and MandoTrio. We play dance music from Estonia and from around the world. Smaller, already more skilled groups will play at the concert as well. Our goal is to promote mandolin music amongst youngsters. What could be more inspiring then rehearsals and playing together with the professionals. Another hundred players join us in the second part of the concert.

To celebrate the 100th birthday of the Republic of Estonia, Joosep Sang assembled mandolin players from around the country and a big orchestra of more than 100 players was born. Players come from the following orchestras: Estonian Mandolin Orchestra (director Joonas Tuuling), Orchestra Saku Mandolins (director Joosep Sang), Tapa Mandolin Orchestra (director Ilmar Kald), Uhtna Mandolin Orchestra (director Jaanus Põlder), mandolin players from Mooste (director Raivo Sildoja) and players from other parts of Estonia.
